Gender Inequality

Writer's picture: Natasha BADGELEYNatasha BADGELEY

The underrepresentation of women in top positions, such as CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and political roles in federal government, is influenced by a variety of factors. These include pervasive gender stereotypes, the existence of the "glass ceiling" that inhibits women's career advancement, and the challenges women face in balancing work and family responsibilities.

To see more women in these influential roles, meaningful changes are needed. These changes include addressing gender bias in hiring and promotion practices, providing mentorship and sponsorship programs to support women's career growth, implementing flexible work policies to accommodate work-life balance, actively promoting and appointing women to leadership roles, and fostering a cultural shift that promotes gender equality and inclusivity in all spheres of society. By taking these steps, organizations and society as a whole I feel can work towards breaking down barriers and creating more opportunities for women to achieve positions of power and influence.
